Ceramic installation I made for class. My theme was the darker side to the fairytales we grew up with as children (part 2 of my project afterThe Velveteen Rabbit).

This one is based offThe Little Mermaidwhich was originally written by Hans Christian Andersen. The original is not a whole lot like the Disney version in a lot of ways. For one she cannot speak because the sea witch chops off her tongue in exchange for legs, and walking on her human feet causes her intense pain. The prince also falls in love with the wrong girl and the mermaid kills herself in the end. Totally the version you would have your children read!

Combination of cone 04 and cone 6 clay. Pieces are hand built and slip cast. The toy blocks are pit fired. Thank you to my BF nathan who press molded my toy blocks for me!

This is a ceramic installation I did for my class. My project was the stories and fairytales that we grew up with as children, and the dark themes in them. Believe me I found some pretty dark stuff while researching for this project!

This one is the The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams. Look up the story if you haven’t heard of it before, its worth a read. This poor little bunny nearly gets thrown into a fire at the end!

Made in cone 04 and cone 06 (the white rabbits). Combination of hand built, slip cast, and sprig molded pieces. Thank you to my BF Nathan who helped me slipcast all the white rabbits!

My First Post

So after posting on Deviantart for years I decided to give blogging a try. I’ve never had a blog before, so its probably going to take a little getting used to.

My goal for this blog is to post any of my art that would be classified as craft. For me that mainly includes ceramics, costumery and yarn work, but I am thinking of expanding into some book making as well soon in the future.

I’m a Ceramic’s Craft and Design student, thought my ceramic postings will be limited to what I produce during the school year since that is the only time I will have access to a kiln most of the time. My summers are mainly filled with costume/prop making, and crochet, so that is what I will mainly be posting for the next little while.

Here’s to trying something new!
